Rookies of '79 and friends

Giving Tuesday 2021

Good afternoon!

Today, I’m going to get right to the point...

Yesterday, hundreds of supporters generously gave a gift to the Rookies of ’79 charity on Giving Tuesday. I and the Rookies of ‘79 Board of Directors cannot thank each and every one of them enough for their generosity, sacrifice and trust.

These timely gifts allow us to remain true to our mission: to provide financial support for flat track motorcycle racers during their time recovering from an injury. And there are no words for how important the donations of a number of our corporate and individual donors that are restricted for use in the administration and operations of the charity. These restricted administrative donations allow me to travel across the United States, attending AFT and select regional flat track events all year long. It is at these events that the majority of our fundraising is accomplished, with purchases and donations by flat track fans…the GREATEST FANS IN THE WORLD.

If you participated in our Giving Tuesday campaign, I want you to know that you’re a vital part of our exciting and ambitious efforts. We would not exist if it wasn’t for the dedication and generosity of the flat track fans across the country.

As we head into a new year, we hope that you will join us in wishing all of the amateur and professional flat track competitors safe travels and safe racing events in 2022.

With gratitude,

Charlie Roberts

Executive Director
