Charlie Roberts

Founder

“Chas”, as they call him, grew up in his dad’s Yamaha shop in Springfield, Illinois. Charlie had a successful racing career, winning multiple District 17 Titles, the Amateur National Championship in 1976, the Novice Class National title in 1977 and proceeded swiftly through the Junior ranks to appear in 1979 as a rookie-expert. 1984 brought injury and mechanical issues that ended his career in flat track racing. Chas had a career as a successful Insurance Producer. He became the Executive Director of the Rookies Charity until 2022.

Charlie still resides in his hometown of Springfield IL with his wife Verna, daughter Rhiannon, son “Lil Charlie”, and his daughter Paige attending Virginia Tech. Chas credits his sales skills and persistence to his time participating on the AMA Pro Racing circuit.

Charlie travels tens of thousands of miles each year, driving the charity van to both regional and American Flat Track races. It is from the van / event tent that most of the money for the charity is raised. This fund raising is only possible to Charlie’s commitment to the mission of the charity and his tireless efforts over many hours and miles to meet with the most important component of the charity, the fans.
